West Street Church

A Local Ecumenical Partnership between Somerton Methodist and United Reformed Churches.
Today, West Street Church serves the whole community. Everyone is welcome to become part of the Church family where we support and encourage each other in our daily lives to grow and develop in the Christian way of life.

West Street Church is one of 5 Churches within the Mid Somerset United Reformed Group and one of 20 Churches making up the Somerset Mendip Circuit of The Methodist Church. The Methodist Minister is Rev. Craig Manley based at Castle Cary. The United Reformed Minister is Rev. Tim Richards based at Curry Rivel.

SUNDAYS: The main Service is at 10.30 am preceded by informal singing and a short time of quiet. Each month one of these services includes Holy Communion when everyone, of whatever age, is welcome at the Lord’s Table. Coffee is served at the close of every morning worship.

Some occasional Informal evening services take place at 6.00 pm.

PRAYER CIRCLE: A group of people creates a circle of love and prayer for anyone in the local community with a special need.

OPEN PERSONAL PRAYER/MEDITATION: Weekly on Tuesday 10.30 am – 11.00 am (come and go)

CONNECT: A monthly newsletter is distributed on the first Sunday of every month.

WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP: Meets monthly Wednesday afternoons at 2.45 pm

RAINBOW RASCALS: Parents and toddlers group – meets on Thursday mornings (term time) 9.00 am – 11.45 am.

FOCUS – Bible Study: Times announced

CTIS – Churches Together in Somerton is a very active group of six denominations working together in their Christian Life. Joint worship is held every 5th Sunday evening of the month at 6.30 pm, at different venues.

SINGING FOR FUN – 2nd and 4th Monday. 11 am to 12

SOMERTON OPPORTUNITIES – Meets for ‘Coffee and more’ an all ability social group, on 2nd and 4th Fridays 10am – 12. On 2nd Fridays we are joined by SOMERTON CARERS – a peer support group for family and unpaid carers, meeting separately from 10.30 – 12, with a chance for their cared-for ones to join the social activities of Coffee and more.
