Town Trail
Take a guided walk around Somerton. Along the way you will pass historic houses, a former collar factory and a former coaching inn. Learn the fascinating history of our Somerset market town – once known as the Royal Capital of Ancient Wessex. There is a printed leaflet version of the Town Trail available from, ACEarts, Stationery House and the Public Library situated in Cox’s Yard car park.
Short walks around Somerton
There are some splendid walks in and around our beautiful hilltop town. This set of 10 short walks should each take an hour or so each. They all start at the free Half Moon car park, TA11 6QQ at the western end of West Street, Somerton. If you have a dog with you, check out our guide to shops, eateries and businesses that are dog-friendly. Some of these walks maybe wet/muddy, so wear appropriate footwear!
Our thanks go to Martyn Smith for allowing us to share his Town Trail and a small selection of his local walks. His website, Walks by Martyn, provides more ideas for walks in the area.
